P. 13 (the "Planning Act"),  please take advantage of the pre-submission consultations freely available to the public before submitting your application to staff at the Township of North Dumfries offices.

The Township of North Dumfries is responsible for considering applications from the public for land within the Township to:

The applications for Official Plan Amendment, re-zoning of the Zoning By-law and consent have been revised as of May 26, 2010. Attached to these applications will be an environmental site screening questionnaire provided by the Region of Waterloo. A recommendation was passed on June 6, 2009, which further explains the Region of Waterloo's request. The Township of North Dumfries is located within the Region of Waterloo.  The Regional Municipality of Waterloo is responsible for considering applications from the public for land within the Township to:

PRE-SUBMISSION CONSULTATIONS:

Pre-submission consultations offer the public with an opportunity to learn more about the appropriate planning process under which a proposed development or request they wish to make of the Township may be best considered.  It allows you to receive preliminary feedback from Township planners and the other government(s) department(s) and agencies that will be consulted by Council or the Committee of Adjustment for the Township of North Dumfries.  The Township Council decided to make such services available to the public free of charge.

Pre-submission consultations are available prior to making any application to the Township under the Planning Act.  You are encouraged to complete pre-submission consultations before making any such application to the Township.

After downloading and completing your Township of North Dumfries pre-submission consultation form, you may deliver it by any means to either Township staff at Township of North Dumfries offices, or directly to the Township's consulting planners.  E-mail links to the consulting Township Planners are available at the bottom of this Web Page.  Other contact information for the Township's consulting planners is available elsewhere on this Web Site.  While completing the pre-submission consultation form, you are encouraged to submit a sketch plan of the proposed development or request.

APPLICATIONS TO AMEND THE TOWNSHIP'S OFFICIAL PLAN:

The Township of North Dumfries application form to request an amendment of the Township's Official Plan under Subsection 22(1) of the Planning Act includes instructions to assist you to complete and submit the application form.  The application form is available as:

  • an Adobe® Acrobat® file that you can print and fill in by hand or on a typewriter; and

APPLICATIONS TO AMEND THE TOWNSHIP'S ZONING BY-LAW:

The Township of North Dumfries application form to request an amendment of the Township's Zoning By-law under Section 34 of the Planning Act (including applications under Subsection 34(10) of the Planning Act regarding legal non-complying / non-conforming uses where the tests under Subsection 45(1) of the Planning Act cannot be met) includes instructions to assist you to complete and submit the application form.  The application form is available as:

The Township of North Dumfries application form to request a consent from the Township under Subsection 53(1) of the Planning Act includes instructions to assist you to complete and submit the application form.  Additional information about consent applications in the Township is also available.  The application form is available as:
