Husky Oil Truck Stop
Wastewater Treatment Plant
Windsor, Ontario

Husky Oil owns a car/truck stop near Windsor, Ontario on Highway 401.

The original septic system consisted of an extended aeration plant and raised effluent absorption bed.  Over the years the equipment failed and instead of being repaired was removed.  When we started working on this project we found a long concrete tank with no aeration equipment.  It was essentially acting as a large septic tank.  Partially treated effluent was discharged to an in-ground absorption bed but excessive carry over of solids plugged the disposal field.  The system was not working very well.

The final design for this project reuses the existing septic tank, adds a new septic tank, pump dosing tank and two Waterloo Biofilter shipping container treatment units.  Treated effluent is disinfected by UV light and discharged to a storm sewer.
